Starting Wednesday, 3/1/2017, Turlock Transit will be adding bus stops and expanding fixed-route coverage in a response to customer requests. These changes will involve the relabeling of service on Routes 1 & 2 for easier understanding, expanded service on Routes 4 & 5, as well as new bus stops along Routes 1, 3 and 4. Notices will be posted in buses, shelters and new Rider Guides that will be available in the coming weeks. Keep reading to learn more.
Routes 1 & 2: Many riders expressed confusion over the interlining of Routes 1 & 2 near California State University, Stanislaus (CSUS), where one route would turn into another route. City staff will seek to clarify that by renaming the existing clockwise route (Route 1 to 2) as simply Route 1. Likewise, the existing counterclockwise route (Route 2 to 1) will become simply Route 2.
Route 1: Service will be returned to the bus stop along Countryside Dr. at El Pollo Loco at the Monte Vista Crossings shopping center. This is in addition to the existing stop near the corner at Monte Vista Ave., which will continue to be the time point.
Route 3: Stops will be added at five locations along this route: (1) Golden State Blvd. at Tuolumne Rd., (2) Golden State Blvd. at Monte Vista Ave., (3) Colorado Ave. at Waldorf Dr., (4) N. Olive Ave. at North Ave., and (5) Hawkeye Ave. at Donnelly Park Dr.
Route 4: A portion of the outbound route will change as the bus will leave the TRTC and head east along Hawkeye Ave., but turn right (south) down N. Olive Ave. instead of continuing to Colorado Ave. Once on N. Olive Ave., the bus will stop just south of Hawkeye Ave. and again at Wayside Dr. It will continue south and turn left (east) onto E. Canal Dr. The bus will stop along E. Canal Dr. between Main St. and Olive Ave. near Cotta's Kitchen, providing closer service to Main St., the library and Sacred Heart Church. The bus will stop again near Bell St. at Crane Terrace, before continuing east. Upon reaching Colorado Ave., it will turn right (south) along Colorado Ave. and continue the route as it currently exists. The return (inbound) trip will follow Colorado Ave. all the way to Hawkeye Ave., before turning west onto Hawkeye Ave.
The return (inbound) time point at Colorado / Lyons will be moved north to E. Canal Dr. at Crane Park.
Route 5: Service along Lander Ave. will become uni-directional (south) as instead of turning northwest along 9th St., the bus will continue east along W. Linwood Ave. and serve previous stops at Baywood and Amberwood. The bus will then turn northwest on 5th St., returning direct service to the Sikh Temple and the residential area near Rockwood. The bus will continue along 5th St. before turning right (northeast) along F St., stopping at Jessica St. The bus will continue along F St. before turning left (northeast) along Golden State Blvd., stopping near Minerva St. near Pop's Bargain Outlet. The will then continue along Golden State Blvd. and rejoin the existing route at A St. / Marshall St.
