Paratransit |
Service Hours |
Along with the fixed route service, Turlock Transit provides complementary curb-to-curb paratransit service to eligible individuals. Paratransit requires advanced reservation, so all trips must be booked no later than 5:00 p.m. for the following day. There are three ways to make a reservation.
1. Call our dispatch office at (209) 668-5600 during normal reservation hours, Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays. For calls made outside of these hours, please leave us a message with your phone number and one of our dispatchers will return your call in the morning of the next business day to confirm. Reservation requests made outside of these hours will be returned first thing the next business day. Same-day reservations are possible based on availability, but calling at least one day prior is strongly recommended. Download a DAR Guide for more information. After using DAR regularly for two weeks, you can request subscription service to be picked up from the same place at the same time every day. Your subscription service will continue automatically until you ask for it to change. Then just call to cancel whenever you won’t need the ride. |

Tips for Using Dial-a-Ride Service
|
Eligibility
For trips that stay inside the fixed route service area (Zone 1), DAR service is available only to persons who have received ADA paratransit eligibility, those 65 years of age and over, Medicare card holders, and elementary school students. Turlock Transit, in partnership with the other three transit agencies in Stanislaus County, have partnered with MOVE Stanislaus to provide ADA paratransit eligibility determinations for all transit providers. This provides a unified eligibility process that utilizes in-person assessments instead of paper applications. The result is an easier process for applicants. If approved, your eligibility will be recognized with all four transit providers. For more information, please call (209) 232-5092 or visit: http://www.movestanislaus.org/eligibility/ For trips that go outside Zone 1, DAR service is available to everyone. |
Fares: Regular
*Kindergarten through 6th grade students within the fixed-route service area can use DAR to and from school only.
**Maximum of two children per traveling adult. |
Fares: Group Rates
Save money by traveling with a friend. Individuals that travel together under a single reservation qualify for reduced fares. A typical round-trip within Turlock would cost a rider $5.00, though when traveling with two friends the same trip would cost $2.00.
Grouped travel is also exempt from the additional $1 per person that would otherwise be charged for traveling outside the primary service area (Denair).

Exact change is no longer needed as each bus is equipped with electronic fareboxes that can issue a Change Card for future use.
$5 and $10 Stored Value cards can be used on DAR if purchased in advance from the Roger K. Fall Transit Center, 1418 N. Golden State Blvd., Turlock, CA 95380.

Accessibility
All buses are wheelchair accessible through either a low-floor design with a ramp or with a mechanical lift, but wheelchairs must be in good working order. Our drivers are not allowed to push wheelchairs up or down inclines or over barriers outside the bus. We encourage wheelchair users to remain in their chair and wear a lap belt during loading and unloading, as well as while riding on DAR. All wheelchairs must be secured to the bus.

Visitor Policy
The right to paratransit under ADA cannot be restricted based on where the individual lives. An individual that does not reside in the Turlock Transit service area, seeking to utilize the Turlock Transit Dial-a-Ride, may be certified by another transit system. When the specific trip is made, the scheduler may ask if the person is ADA certified by another transit system. If so and appropriate documentation is provided, Turlock Transit shall honor that certification and provide the service, within any proscribed limits of that certification.
If the individual is not able to produce documentation of ADA certification by another transit system, but claims to be eligible for service, service will be provided. However, Turlock Transit may request proof that the individual is not a resident, and in some cases (for hidden impairment conditions), medical documentation may be required.
Visitors will be directed to MOVE for temporary eligibility for subsequent trips. MOVE will attempt to process visitor requests within 24 hours upon receipt. Under no circumstances is a visitor to the system entitled to service beyond twenty-one (21) days, in any combination, during any 365-day period beginning with the visitor’s first use of the service.
