​Students

Students and youth (at least nine years old) are welcome to ride independently on Turlock Transit services.  All public education staff, students and faculty can ride fixed route services for free.

Middle and high school students regularly use Route 3 to access Turlock Junior High School and Pitman High School, while students on Route 4 access Dutcher Middle School and Turlock High School. All routes originate and end at the Transit Center for easy transfers between routes.

​Turlock Transit operates Monday-Friday (6:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.), Saturday (9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.) and does not operate on Sundays of specific holidays (see below).

Safety and Security

  • Surveillance cameras are present and monitored on-board buses and at the Transit Center.
  • Law enforcement officers and contracted safety officers proactively monitor activities at the Transit Center and respond to incidents on route.
  • The Transit Center is patrolled 24/7/365 by private security, as well as by Turlock police on an as-needed basis.
  • Real-time bus location is available in the Transit app or on the home page of turlocktransit.com
  • Passengers are encouraged to report any safety concerns to transit personnel immediately.

Enforcement

  • Behavior that violates our Code of Conduct may result in a denial of service.
  • Repeated or severe violations of the Code of Conduct may result in a long-term suspensions.
  • Illegal conduct will be referred to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
  • Turlock Transit has a cooperative working relationship with the Turlock Unified School District and may share information regarding student-involved incidents with school personnel for identification or follow-up purposes.

Fares

Fixed Route:
Public education staff, faculty and students, as well as all youth (18 & younger) ride free.

Paratransit:
Students eligible to use paratransit services ride free.

On-Demand:
​Students pay the standard fare of $5.00 per trip within Turlock or $2.50 per trip for travel to or from Denair.

Holidays

Turlock Transit does not operate on Sundays or the following holidays: New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

​Turlock Transit will provide limited service (Saturday schedule) on the following holidays: 
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Veterans Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Rules

Students are expected to adhere to the same rules and code of conduct in place for all passengers, which includes the following:
  • Eating/drinking on-board is not allowed. Food/drinks on-board must be in sealed containers.
  • Smoking/vaping is not allowed on transit vehicles, at bus stops, or at the Transit Center.
  • Headphones are required for mobile phones and audio devices.
  • Noise. Excessive or disruptive noise is not permitted.
  • Children under 9 years of age must travel with an adult (18+). Maximum of two children per traveling adult.
  • Clothing. Passengers must wear appropriate clothing at all times, including a shirt or top, bottoms (such as pants, shorts, skirts, or dresses), and shoes.
  • Illegal weapons are prohibited.
  • Animals, except service animals, are not allowed except in carriers held on your lap.
  • Carts, walkers & strollers must be folded, secured & out of the aisle.
  • Personal items must fit under your seat or in your lap.
  • Profanity & unruly behavior is not allowed.
  • Talking to the bus driver while the bus is in motion should be avoided for safety reasons.
  • Priority seating on the bus is for seniors & persons with disabilities.
  • No refunds/exchanges for lost or damaged fare media.

Demand-Response

Turlock Transit has two options for shared-ride, curb-to-curb service based on reservations. To schedule your trip call (209) 668-5600 or download the Turlock Transit app.

On-Demand

On-Demand is a same-day service available to everyone. Trips can be booked in advance or when you are ready to travel. The cost is $5.00 per trip within Turlock or $2.50 for seniors, individuals with disabilities and military veterans, or anyone traveling to/from Denair.

Paratransit

Paratransit operates in a similar manner, but is intended for those who have difficulty using fixed-route transit. Reservations must be made at least one business day in advance (by 5pm). The cost is $1.00 per person, per trip. Access is limited to individuals who have been deemed eligible through an ADA-eligibility process. To learn more visit the ADA Paratransit page.

The City of Turlock is committed to providing transit services that are accessible to persons with disabilities in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.
