Public Transit & the Stanislaus County Fair (July 5-14, 2024)

Free Rides in July

Public transit providers in Stanislaus and Merced counties (Merced's The Bus, StanRTA's The S, and the City of Turlock's Turlock Transit) will be providing unlimited, free rides on their fixed route and paratransit services throughout the month of July 2024 as part of a joint, free fare promotion. This includes the Fair Shuttle, with direct, frequent service between the Turlock Transit Center and the Arch Gate at the Fairgrounds.

Extended and Expanded Services

  • Extended operating hours. All Turlock Transit routes will be extended to run until midnight, with the last buses departing the Transit Center at 11:30 PM.
  • Additional operating days. Turlock Transit will operate both Sundays of the Fair from 10:55 AM - 12:00 AM (midnight). 
  • Extended facility hours: The Roger K. Fall (Turlock) Transit Center lobby will remain open until 11:30 PM each night of the Fair, providing access to restrooms, drinking fountains and a cooling zone to escape the heat.
  • Free bottled water. Transit staff will be on-site at the Transit Center near the Fair Shuttle hospitality area during the hottest hours of the day to hand out free, ice-cold bottles of water to waiting passengers.

Ditch the car. Use transit for your entire trip!

Board any fixed route bus stop (Route 1-7) in Turlock and arrive at the Transit Center, where you can transfer to the Fair Shuttle. Save money, time and headaches!

Free Fair Shuttle

​Dedicated shuttle buses will provide regular, direct loops (about every 10 minutes) between the Transit Center and the Fairgrounds Arch Gate during Fair operating hours.

​The last shuttle bus departs the Fairgrounds at 11:15 PM to ensure timely transfers to Routes 1-7 (local) and regional buses.

Regional Connections / Getting Here

Walk-and-Ride: Walk from your home to the nearest fixed route bus stop in Turlock, which will take you to the Turlock Transit Center. Transfer to the Fair Shuttle and get dropped off at the main entrance (Arch Gate) to the Fair. Follow the same trip in reverse to get home.
Regional transit: 
​Board either Merced's T Route or StanRTA's Route 10, 29T or 45, which all stop at the Turlock Transit Center.

Park-and-Ride: Drive to a public parking lot near a bus stop (any stop), park and secure your car, and board the bus for a quick trip to the Transit Center. You may opt to use the designated Park-n-Ride location at Stan State near Monte Vista Ave. & Theatre Dr. ​

ADA Paratransit

Paratransit services for eligible individuals will be available during the same extended hours as fixed route services and can provide direct service to the Arch Gate for the Fair.  This service is also free during the month of July, but trips must be scheduled at least one day in advance.  To learn more about eligibility, call the MOVE Eligibility Center at (209) 672-1143. To book a reservation, please call (209) 668-5600 or use the Turlock Transit app.

On-Demand

Turlock Transit's On-Demand service will be available to the general public during the same extended hours as fixed route services and can provide direct service to the Arch Gate for the Fair.  ​The cost for Turlock-to-Turlock trips is is $5.00 per ride, plus $3.00 per companion; while trips with an origin or destination in Denair are $2.50 per person. To book a reservation, please call (209) 668-5600 or use the Turlock Transit app.

Fair Shuttle Hours

Direct shuttle between the Transit Center and Arch Gate at the Fairgrounds.

Weekends: 11:30 AM - 11:30 PM
The last Fair Shuttle bus leaves the Fairgrounds at 11:15 PM

$2.00 Off Coupon for Adult Fair Admission

Each Fair Shuttle passenger is eligible to receive a coupon for $2.00 off the regular price of one adult admission to the Fair. One coupon per person, per inbound trip. Ask transit staff for this coupon when boarding the shuttle.

Transit Booth at the Fair

Come visit our booth and meet with transit staff at the Fair. Look for the large Turlock Transit bus near the Arch Gate.
  • Prizes! Take a tour of the bus at our booth and win a prize.
  • Win a bike! See a demonstration on how to properly and safely load and unload a bicycle on and off the bike rack in front of the bus, then enter a drawing to win that bicycle after the Fair.
