Beginning Monday, July 31, 2017, Turlock Transit will implement route modifications on Routes 1, 2, 3, and 6 to detour around the full closure of N. Golden State Blvd. and Fulkerth Rd. / Hawkeye Ave., immediately adjacent to the Turlock Regional Transit Center (TRTC). These modified routes are anticipated to remain in effect for approximately 45 days, though this is subject to extension based on progress by the City's contractor (working within the intersection) and the Union Pacific Railroad, which will be providing enhancements at the railroad tracks. All routes will continue to start and end at the TRTC. A diagram reflecting the changes is forthcoming. Keep reading for more detailed information.
The above referenced road closure is a part of City Project No. 14-28, "Intersection Improvements at N. Golden State Blvd. and Fulkerth Rd." and involves major improvements to signal equipment, lane configuration, median improvements, and enhancements to benefit motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians. A large portion of project funding is derived from Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) federal funds. While typically the start date for construction of a project of this nature would occur in late spring, City staff strategically selected this start time to avoid negative impacts to the 2017 Stanislaus County Fair. Questions regarding the project can be directed to the project manager, Stephen Fremming, P.E., at [email protected] or (209) 668-5417.
