DETOURS TO BE IMPLEMENTED DUE TO CONSTRUCTION NEAR TURLOCK REGIONAL TRANSIT CENTER

7/26/2017

Beginning Monday, July 31, 2017, Turlock Transit will implement route modifications on Routes 1, 2, 3, and 6 to detour around the full closure of N. Golden State Blvd. and Fulkerth Rd. / Hawkeye Ave., immediately adjacent to the Turlock Regional Transit Center (TRTC).  These modified routes are anticipated to remain in effect for approximately 45 days, though this is subject to extension based on progress by the City's contractor (working within the intersection) and the Union Pacific Railroad, which will be providing enhancements at the railroad tracks.  All routes will continue to start and end at the TRTC.  A diagram reflecting the changes is forthcoming.  Keep reading for more detailed information.
  • Route 1 will leave the TRTC, head north on Del's Ln., west on Pedras Rd., north on N. Golden State Blvd., west on W. Tuolumne Rd., south on N. Tully Rd., and return to the normal route by turning west onto Fulkerth Rd.  During this deviation the route will serve the two existing bus stops along the west side of N. Tully Rd. between W. Tuolumne Rd. and Fulkerth Rd., while at the same time will not serve one stop on Fulkerth Rd. near Edgewater Dr.
  • Route 2 will leave the TRTC along the normal route, but upon returning along W. Tuolumne Rd. will continue east to N. Golden State Blvd. (instead of turning south onto N. Tully Rd.), turn south on N. Golden State Blvd., east onto Pedras Rd., south onto Del's Ln., with arrival to the TRTC.  This deviation will not serve any additional routes; it will also not serve two bus stops along N. Tully Rd., which will be served by Routes 1 & 6 instead.
  • Route 3 will leave the TRTC, head north on Del's Ln., west on Pedras Rd., and return to the normal route by heading north on N. Golden State Blvd.  This deviation will not add or remove service to any bus stops.
  • Route 6 will leave the TRTC, head north on Del's Ln., west on Pedras Rd., north on N. Golden State Blvd., west on W. Tuolumne Rd., south on N. Tully Rd., and return to the normal route by continuing south past Fulkerth Rd.  The bus will follow the normal route until reaching Canal Dr. on Soderquist Rd., at which point it shall deviate again by heading east along W. Canal Dr., north on N. Golden State Blvd., with arrival to the TRTC.  During this deviation the route will add service to two existing bus stops along the west side of N. Tully Rd. between W. Tuolumne Rd. and Fulkerth Rd., though it will cease to serve three bus stops along Fulkerth Rd. between N. Tully Rd. and Soderquist Rd.
The above referenced road closure is a part of City Project No. 14-28, "Intersection Improvements at N. Golden State Blvd. and Fulkerth Rd." and involves major improvements to signal equipment, lane configuration, median improvements, and enhancements to benefit motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians. A large portion of project funding is derived from Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) federal funds.  While typically the start date for construction of a project of this nature would occur in late spring, City staff strategically selected this start time to avoid negative impacts to the 2017 Stanislaus County Fair.  Questions regarding the project can be directed to the project manager, Stephen Fremming, P.E., at [email protected] or (209) 668-5417.
