Starting Monday, 9/27/21, Turlock Transit will reduce the frequency of service on all fixed routes after 3:30 PM on weekdays and all day each Saturday to ensure we can continue to reliably deliver service during an unprecedented bus driver shortage. While we anticipate this to be a temporary adjustment, there is not an end date determined at this time.
During the service reduction period one bus will alternate between two different routes (or three buses for six routes), which means each route will be served every 60-70 minutes instead of every 30-35 minutes. This is reflected in the temporary schedule (see image).
Notice of these changes is being shared with the public on the Turlock Transit website, social media accounts, and targeted emails. Printed information will also be posted on buses, at bus stops, at the Transit Center, and mailed to ADA paratransit customers.
We recognize this change is inconvenient and we explored every other possibility prior to implementing these service reductions. However, we believe that planned service reductions are ultimately less disruptive to passengers than unplanned service disruptions. We are working closely with our contracted operations staff each day to resolve the underlying issues and restore transit service as quickly as possible.
